A touching story about a man named Eddie Green who went above and beyond to change a veteran’s life. The story starts with Eddie going out for a bite at KFC when he coincidentally runs into a veteran. The veteran named Mark had his beard grown out, hair down to his shoulders, wearing a soiled white T-shirt, and homeless. A situation where many of us would at the most give spare change to and be on our way.

Green thought to himself, “Well I can at least give him something to eat,” but little did he know this was the beginning of touching friendship.

The kind samaritan followed Mark and found out he was living on a couch in the back of the woods. He was homeless and it was bad, described Eddie. The conditions that Mark lived in were horrendous. No privacy, a lack of sanitation, and shade only from the tree above him. It is so easy to just walk away from someone in these situations, but Eddie didn’t.

The kind stranger took it upon himself to help Mark. He said, “It would be inhumane to leave a man living out like that.” Upon finding out that the homeless man was a veteran, Eddie was shocked. He wondered how could this have happened to someone who served our country?

The man came into the veterans life and changed it forever. He took Mark to multiple government facilities and even thought it was not a breeze, eventually got the benefits that Mark deserved. Eddie eventually found a veteran’s care center where they took Mark under their watch and made sure that he is cared for.

By the end of the video, we can see that Mark and Green share a special relationship. Mark appreciates his friend and says, “Eddie is someone that I would do anything for if I could… he’s done so much for me.” A man giving back to a veteran who gave his all in protecting his country.

There are a lot of veterans who suffer from PTSD and many other disabilities due to the stress that they incur while in the services. There is a big population of veterans who are homeless, believe it or not. Men and women who once served our country now living in the streets with physical and mental ailments.

Many of homeless have undiagnosed or poorly treated mental or emotional illnesses just like Mark who in the video says that he wishes he was dead.

A beautiful story about Eddie helping a man who once fought for our rights to be an American. From this story we should remember to always have compassion for each other and to spread awareness about the difficulties that these people face.

The homeless community is often times neglected and just looked down upon as “they brought it upon themselves,” but sometimes it isn’t in their control. It is upon us to make a difference in this world and just like Eddie who stepped into this mans life and changed it, we can help others by spreading awareness and seeing that that homelessness is a problem.
