Whoever has a backyard, has at least once received furry visitors- and by that, we mean stray kitties. They usually live in the streets, but always look for a kind person to feed them, give them some water or, even better, show them some love.

Shea Prior of Irvington, Alabama, made a new friend last week. It was a beautiful gray and white cat that was looking for something to eat. Shea tried to gain her trust, and she soon managed to do so. In fact, the kitty felt so comfortable around Prior that she let her get very close, even pet her.

But, as Prior was petting her and she reached out to hold her, she made a discovery.

“I was petting her and went to pick her up and that’s when I realized she had milk in and had been nursing some babies,” Prior told The Dodo.

So, when the woman realized that the cat had a family somewhere near, she was eager to meet all of them! She tried to talk the cat into calling her kittens to introduce them to her, and at some point, she convinced her.

“So of course I started telling her to show me to her babies, and that I bet her babies were so pretty,” the woman wrote in a Facebook post.

Eventually, the cat decided she could trust Prior enough to show her the babies, and she flopped on her side and started calling them.

The little ones were scared at first, and they were reluctant to go out, as they knew their hiding place would then be compromised. Little by little, encouraged by their mom, the tiny kittens grew more confident and made up their minds: they would present themselves to the stranger that had been taking care of their mama.

Indeed, one by one they started getting out and Prior couldn’t contain her excitement.

“One of the little gray ones was super brave and came up to me with his little pointy tail held up high in the air and let me pet him immediately,” Prior said. “Eventually, after about 10 to 15 minutes, they had all come up to me and let me hold them and pet them.”

The little sweethearts melted Shea’s heart who knew she had to do something to help them. So, she took them inside her home temporarily to warm them up and take care of them as needed. Then she thought she could share the story with the Facebook community and maybe the kittens would be lucky enough to be adopted away.

After a few days, Prior updated her post, letting everyone know that the kittens had all found families to adopt them when they are old enough to leave their mama’s side.

She also wrote that she had decided to keep mama cat in her home, along with the other two cats she already has.

Prior has also started a GoFundMe to help her with vet expenses for the kittens and spaying of the mama. People have already donated $3,844 out of the $1000 that was the goal.

She has already surpassed her goal! We are so happy these little kittens and mama cat all found a home.
