It applies to pretty much everything: every master was once a beginner, and as Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, every artist was first an amateur.

In other words, you have to start somewhere, and it usually begins at a pretty young age.

If there’s one event where you can often see a lot of undiscovered and young talent, it has got to be the traditional school talent shows.

These variety shows are often filled with cool, exciting, or even heartwarming performances by all of the children at the school who aren’t afraid to show off on a stage.

It’s just plain fun, both for the students involved as well as for the parents watching, making it an event you wouldn’t want to miss.

Not every act can be absolutely brilliant or boisterous, of course, but it’s just so joyful to see these children on the stage with a smile on their face.

Most schools hold one of these talent variety shows every year, and there are always a couple of acts that absolutely stand out.

These two talented fifth-graders dressed in onesies were definitely the act of the evening!

The one thing that stands out the most, of course, is the fact that they’re dressed in adorable baby onesie pajamas. Although, ‘dressed’ probably isn’t the right word for it, because this was a very smart puppet-show and comedy act!

It’s actually pretty funny to see their tiny ‘legs’ along with their life-sized arms.

Even though you can’t really see it well in the video, these puppet-legs are attached to their elbows with some transparent strings. The arm movements were pretty much everything they had, but it turned out to be more than enough.

Right behind them is a large cardboard box and a sheet that hides their real bodies, and many people in the audience actually found the pure simplicity of it all quite charming.

They didn’t need fancy decors or costumes to steal the show, a simple box would suffice.

The performance starts with a dance mashup to a number of popular songs. First up: “Kung Fu Fighting” by Carl Douglas.

It’s an absolute classic, and these two girls even karate-chopped each other. From that moment on, the audience knew that they were in for quite a treat, and the laughs just kept on coming.

Even though these two fifth-graders could only use their arms to move around, their facial expressions definitely added to the whole thing too.

There were a number of songs that the two girls danced to in the medley, and Pharell Williams’ hit single “Happy” was one of them. They couldn’t have picked a better song to move their fake bodies around to the beat of!

It’s energetic, it’s joyful, and it just brings a smile to your face. And these girls weren’t done yet.

Next up was the international hit by Psy, “Gangnam Style”.

Gangnam Style was arguably the song that introduced the rest of the world to Korean music, and there was no escaping the song back in 2012. Even today, its energetic and funky music will still make a crowd want to get up and move!

They couldn’t resist doing a Queen B imitation either!

Where are all the ‘Single Ladies’ at? Even though the song first came out a while ago, its dance routine is still pretty much imprinted into the collective memory.

It also becomes more obvious that the audience can’t really hold back their laughter anymore, they just loved this whole performance!

When they put their sunglasses on, things are about to get more serious.

“Tell’em – Crank That” was hitting the speakers by Soulja Boy. When these girls nail the classic “YOUUUUUUU” in the song, their swag just becomes undeniable.

Just take a look at how they’re moving and swinging their fake bodies all around the place!

There was one song left, and it was a very fitting one: “All I Do Is Win.”

What better way to end your performance than with a song that has been worked on by so many great artists such as DJ Khaled, Ludacris, and Snoop Dogg.

These girls were the spotlight of the evening thanks to their incredible and hilarious puppet show, and they had the audience in the palms of their hands.

What an act, especially for two fifth graders!
