People who are struggling with their weight know that it’s anything but an easy to ask to lose a significant amount of weight and keep it off, but this woman kept going and managed to lose more than 110 pounds in less than a year and a half.

She knew that it was going to take a while, but she realized that she needed to turn her life around for the better.

The woman, known as ‘MintyKangaroo” on the social platform Reddit, has been sharing her progression along with pictures in a special part of the website aimed towards people who are trying to lose weight.

“My motivation was that I felt terrible at 281lbs,” she recalls. “I couldn’t climb stairs or walk a few blocks without getting sweaty and winded (a big issue when you live in NYC!)”

She started her weight loss journey eighteen months ago, and now the New York native doesn’t want to look back.

She remembers how even the smallest form of exercise was incredibly hard for her, but now she’s preparing to run a marathon.

At first, she couldn’t even dream about running a marathon!

“I did not set out to lose over 100 lbs and run a marathon- I set out to eat less Chipotle and walk more.”

“My method has been lots of different things, but the basic concept is that I started very small and build small wins on top of one another,” she told about her plan.

“And I also accepted the fact that this is a loooooong journey for me,” she added.

In the first few months, she told that nutrition was the most important factor because she wasn’t fit enough to work out for longer periods.

“I began in January of 2017 with the smallest little things, just trying to eat at home more and walk as much as I could.”

“Each small change brought a small success and gave me the confidence to make medium sized changes, like getting a personal trainer when I was 25 lbs down.”

She started to move more and more and explored possibilities to work out and exercise.

“Medium-sized successes made me believe I could make big changes, like doing the Whole30 and starting to run.”

Her posts on Reddit have been seen by thousands, and dozens of readers praised her perseverance and willpower. She was also more than happy to answer questions and support others on their own weight loss journey.

“Wow, amazing, congrats! You look fantastic, what an achievement!” one person told her.

“You’ve gotten so far and done so well! Congrats on not giving into those negative voices! Hug yourself, remind yourself that: ‘this is a moment of suffering. Suffering is a part of life. May you be kind to yourself in this moment. May you give yourself the compassion you need,” another added.

The woman also mentioned that she recently started counting calories, but she isn’t a big fan of keeping track of different macronutrients such as carbohydrates and proteïnes. She doesn’t want to become obsessed about counting and focusses on the small wins and achievements.

Her amazing weight loss journey has been an inspiration to many.

She feels happier than ever before and wants to encourage others who want to lose weight to take the first step and follow through.

“I’m so much happier, healthier, more confident. I love the way I look in pictures. I can run (I’m training for a half marathon!) and sprint up stairs and hike with my friends without getting super sweaty and winded. I can play with kids when I babysit and not just sit and watch them. I can walk into almost any store and find clothes that fit me. And most of all, I know now that I can accomplish anything I put my mind to. That trust in myself is the most incredible feeling. You deserve to feel it, too. The other stuff will figure itself out, but you owe it yourself to take care of your health and go on this journey and see who you can become.”

What an inspiring and great no-nonsense weight loss journey!
