Stand in front of the mirror and mark dots at all of the different angles your face shows, then join the dots together and there you go!

There are 5 main face shapes that everyone falls into; heart, square, round, long, and oval.

Now that you know what shape you are it is easier to decide which kind of style to get.

Heart-shaped faces are usually wider at the top and narrower near the chin.

A great style for this shape is either straight or swoopy bangs and a wider-styled shoulder-length cut.

Getting a wider style is all about how you shape your hair when drying it, fan the ends out instead of in to create volume.

Square faces are generally a little wider with a square chin, this is actually the face shape that many of today’s high fashion models have.

You can decide to either accentuate or neutralize the shape by the style you choose.

To enhance the look go for blunt bangs and a short bob; to neutralize, keep it long to draw the eyes down and make it look longer.

Round faces don’t despair, having a rounder face means you have held onto your youthful features and can keep a more youthful haircut.

The key for this shape is to soften, so no blunt bangs for round faces.

Instead, go for swoopy bangs and a chin-length that is kept sleek by styling the ends in ever so slightly.

If you fall into the long-face category, a blunt bang may be in your future.

Bangs will pull the onlooker’s eyes down and create a bit of an edge to your look.

It is also advisable to keep your look loose when styling, pin-straight hair will only make your face look longer, keep a bit of waves and movement in your hair to have a softer look.

And finally, the oval face shape.

Oval faces are the most balanced overall and many of the other styles we’ve talked about here are based on balance, so, in that regard, the oval faces have it a bit easier.

Any style you choose can work on an oval face; blunt bangs, swoopy bangs, long and wavy, short and sleek, or a mix of any of the above.

Once you figure out your face shape, discuss what look you would like with your stylist, many of them will have experience working with all the different shapes.

Just remember, the most important thing about putting your best first impression forward, is to have confidence in yourself.

Whatever style and look you choose, you should love how you look and how you feel about yourself.
