There are some commercials that are just etched in the collective memory of the world, and this hilarious Clydesdale ad is one of them. Sometimes, commercials are truly a spectacle and something to look forward to.
For example, commercials actually play a big part in the yearly Superbowl shows, as it’s the most-watched television program of the entire year.
Even though it’s a sports event at heart, the Superbowl has become so much more than that.
It’s a spectacle that everyone looks forward to, and a lot of people actually watch the shows because of the festivities around it – and not actually for the intended purpose of watching a football match.
Even though not everyone is a fan of football, there’s no denying that everyone likes to take a glimpse at the Superbowl every year.
Of course, the commercial runs during half-time is probably the most expensive tv time advertisers can think of.
After all, if you want to grab the attention of the entire country, what better way to do it than via a commercial that will be seen by a whole lot of people?
Of course, now that we live in a digital and limitlessly connected world, a lot of people consider the “golden age” of advertising and television commercials during the Superbowl to be over, but it’s a period that will always be remembered and looked back at with a sense of nostalgia and memories.
These commercials usually knew how to capture someone’s attention. Some of the best, most original, and funniest commercials ever debuted as a Superbowl commercial.
Some brands also like to keep it familiar, and generally use a consistent theme throughout the years. For example, brands such as Doritos and Budweiser definitely come to mind.
The latter always uses Clydesdales as a theme throughout their advertising, and you can still spot these beautiful Clydesdales in current Budweiser marketing.
There’s one Superbowl commercial, in particular, that’s still etched in the collective memory because of how original and hilarious it was.
The Budweiser donkey is probably one of the most memorable commercials in recent history.
You probably know exactly what we’re talking about, but perhaps you don’t remember the whole story or the details anymore. More than enough reason to revisit this classic commercial in 2020 and beyond!
When we’re introduced to the Budweiser donkey, we see an underdog story that’ll most definitely warm your heart.
At the beginning of the short clip, Clydesdales are seen pulling a cart, but then the donkey starts narrating his story.
“Since I was born, I dreamed of being a Budweiser Clydesdale. The only problem is, I was born a donkey.”
The camera shifts to a wider angle, as we see how the donkey watches the horses do their work. It’s something this donkey desperately wants to do, too!
Of course, the story doesn’t end there!
The donkey simply decides to practice and be the best Clydesdale he can be, even better than the original. His daily practice is intense as he pulls a small wagon in a circle, carrying a six-pack of his favorite beer.
Looks matter too, so that’s why this donkey even got hair extensions!
It’s a typical Clydesdale feature, one that a donkey doesn’t have. Luckily, he does a pretty good job at covering it up!
All of his hard work eventually landed him a meeting with the committee of Clydesdales.
They asked him one simple question before deciding if he could join the group.
They asked him if he was ready to be a Clydesdale.
The donkey brayed with a deafening noise, that definitely didn’t resemble anything sweet.
“I must’ve said something right,” the donkey thought.
For the hard-working four-footer, this was a huge success!
You definitely have to check out the hilarious commercial for yourself below, as words don’t really do it justice.
