Ty Burningham is absolutely adored and loved by his neighbors and friends, and he’s often referred to as the unofficial Mayor of Davis County, Utah.

He’s extremely sociable and loves to hang out and meet new people, and he makes everyone fall in love with his charming personality and warmth.

Ty relies on his scooter to get around in the neighborhood, and it actually gave some of the students from Davis High School an idea.

These students were much younger than Ty, who would celebrate his 25th birthday. However, they befriended him and always enjoyed chatting with him, so they wanted to do something special for his upcoming birthday.

One of the teens who had the idea to surprise him, recalls how it all came together:

“You know, just all of us combined, we just pitched in $10. It’s not that big, but Ty, we just love him.”

Even though it was a small gesture, the teens were able to gather enough money to buy a special gift for Ty.

They knew how much he relied on his trusty old scooter, so they decided to upgrade his model and give him one with some more power, so he could get around more easily and reliably. His old one was mostly broken and reaching the end of its life.

It was a huge surprise moment for Ty, and of course, a lot of the teens took their smartphones out to film his heartwarming reaction.

Please note that this video was taken before the pandemic, which is why you won’t see any masks or social distancing in the images.

It was a very special and heartwarming moment, and we see the teens together with one of them covering Ty’s eyes.

His new electric scooter was right there waiting for him, and Ty was speechless when the young man removed his hands.

“Oh, sweet,” he kept on shouting.

This scooter was definitely a big change for Ty, as he wasn’t used to all that electrical horsepower.

Thanks to the motor, he could get by more easily and doesn’t have to push as much as before, but apparently, he got the hang of it rather quickly.

“We turned it on for him and he zipped up the street. We were worried he wasn’t going to come back!” Quaid Rasmussen told KSL News.

Ty was definitely impressed with his new ride and was just in disbelief that he could actually keep it.

“You guys can’t take it – it’s mine now, right?”

He couldn’t believe that a group of high school teens, all several years younger than him, would come together and pool their money to buy him a gift. Their generosity truly warmed his heart, and the teens were more than happy that they could do something for him.

As it turns out, handing out gifts not only makes the receiver happy but it’s good for the givers too.
