When there’s so much BAD going on in the world, all you need to have is a ray of hope that will show you KINDNESS is still out there.
In the world that we live in today, the older generation oftentimes sees teens as disrespectful and ungrateful young adults. With most of their time and attention spent either on social media or by playing video games. It surely leaves a bad impression on their generation of youth.
However, let’s make it a habit not to speak in general. Teens should be looked at individually and not as a pack of their whole population.
I am hoping that this stereotype meets its end because not all these young folks deserve it. After all, there’s no generation of teens that is perfect.
There are still people, teens in particular, who know the importance of being a human and serving their simple role in society. Just like this teen back in 2018 who went viral because of his candid act that’s caught on camera.
It was just a simple act of kindness but it went viral!
Meet Louis Jordan, a teen from Texas.
All it took was a photo of this young man during a hot day in downtown Houston. Jordan was waiting to pick up his mom when he saw an elderly woman sitting under the heat of the scorching sun.
The old woman was waiting for her bus all the while being toasted by the steaming hot weather, and for the record, she’s disabled and in a wheelchair. Thankfully, this teen knew exactly what to do during that moment.
In an interview with ABC13, Jordan said:
“It was unbearably hot. I wouldn’t want to be out there in the sun.”
Jordan remembered he had the right tool to help the old lady and without hesitation, he went off to give her the help she needed.
The lady was shocked but thankful for the kind act shown by Jordan, the two chatted as they waited for the bus to arrive. Even though the bus came a little later than expected, he patiently waited, all the while he’s giving the woman a shield from the sun using his umbrella.
“Come to find out, it ended up being a little longer for her METRO Lift to come get her. So we ended up waiting out here for a good hour or forty-five minutes.”
Jordan’s mom, Bernadette couldn’t be more proud of her son’s beautiful act of kindness.
When she got off from work, she took a photo of her son helping the older woman, a candid but heartwarming photo that was shared thousands of times, or even more.
“I’m a proud mama. He’s just full of surprises, that’s all I can say.”
Obviously, this young man didn’t plan on becoming famous, he just simply knows that he needed to help even if it’s not being asked.
To him, to help others doesn’t require any kind of formula, just a kind heart.
It may have been 2 years since this beautiful incident but isn’t it very timely?
Apart from the pandemic, there are still a lot of bad things going on around us, like the longtime battle about racism, wildfires, typhoons, and other natural calamities. We’re also shocked by the sad passing of NBA Superstar Kobe Bryant and “Black Panther” actor Chadwick Boseman.
We now live in a chaotic world that’s full of negativity and bad things keep happening here and there, wherever you are in the globe. And we talk about BAD, the year 2020 has been consistent “so far” and we hope that the remaining weeks of this year turns out quite good and that the year 2021 will be a prosperous one.
Let’s just all keep in mind that kindness is just around the corner waiting to happen and all you need to do is see it with your very own eyes. We bet that are a lot of kindhearted folks out there, just like Jordan.
