Great teachers always do their best to help their students, whether it’s giving students encouragement to participate in the classroom or offering extra tutoring outside of class. However, one teacher goes above and beyond for one of his students, in his student’s time of need.

The student is Dino Shuffield, an 8-year-old boy who suffers from Alopecia, a disease that attacks the hair follicles on top of your head. Dino enjoyed having great hair, and rocked different hairstyles to school whenever he could. But Dino was slowly beginning to lose his hair. As his hair lessened, so did his confidence. A boy who used to be outgoing was now becoming more shy in school and around friends.

It wasn’t until Dino’s teacher took exception that things began to change for the better. Ehren Steiner, a third-grade teacher at the local elementary school, began to notice what was happening to Dino. He had also heard that Dino was debating on whether or not he would shave his own head. Rather than ignore it, he reached out to Dino to help.

One day after class, Ehren pulled Dino to the side and said: “Hey man, I’ll shave my head too if that’ll make it easier for you(.)”. Dino was surprised at what his teacher was proposing. Unsure at first that he would shave his own head, Dino told Ehren that he was going to shave his head.

Over the weekend, Dino shaved his head. When the first day of the new school week started, Dino cautiously arrived into class with his newly shaved head. He then saw his teacher and realized he had also shaved his head!

Many of the students in class were shocked, and though Dino was also shocked, he couldn’t help but smile. As the two sat down together, you can just see how comfortable Dino is, even in front of the cameras. Although Dino is still adjusting to his new “hairstyle”, he is full of smiles again, all thanks to the incredibly kind act by his teacher. Ehren says that “To have someone to walk through something with is the best thing in the world(.)”.

“He’s the best teacher in the world(.)”, says Dino.

In this case, you certainly can’t disagree with Dino.
