In the world of professional football, not everything always goes according to plan. For these Bolivian football players, something quite special happened and they even had to interrupt their important game.

Turns out that the stadium had a four-footed intruder, and he desperately wanted to grasp the attention of the players on the field.

Overzealous and enthusiastic fans who jump over barricades, and who run directly onto the football field, it has definitely happened more than once.

While the stadium’s security team knows how to deal with situations like these in a proper manner (after all, you never know what one’s intentions are and caution is advised), things are certainly a bit different when it’s not a person interrupting the game, but an adorable pooch.

In the middle of a match between Nacional Potosi and The Strongest, a stray dog managed to steal the spotlight entirely.

It all occurred on Christmas Eve at the Hernando Siles Stadium in one of the country’s largest cities- La Paz. The stray dog certainly had his moments of glory, because it wasn’t too easy to catch the culprit running on the field.

The adorable and energetic four-footer, who was later named Cachito, managed to disturb the game for over three minutes, and he did it in quite a hilarious manner as well!

Somehow, Cachito managed to steal a soccer boot from one of the substitute goalkeepers, and he paraded around the field with the shoe firmly in his mouth.

Not only the audience loved this pooch, but the players on the field couldn’t help but smile about the whole situation either. When the dog approached them, a lot of players actually gave him some joyful belly rubs, although they were also trying to distract him and get the dog off the field of course.

Ultimately one of the players, named Raul Castro, managed to hold Cachito in his arms and carry him away from the field.

It turns out that Cachito was also a source of good luck for the home team!

They won with a whopping and perfect 3-0 score, quite the Christmas present for the team. Unfortunately, Cachito’s luck would then take a turn for the worse.

We’re not really sure what happened to the dog after the match, but he was likely released back on the streets since he didn’t have an owner and wasn’t assigned to a shelter.

A couple of days after the match, Cachito made the news again, but not the joyful kind this time.

The poor dog was found helpless on the street, and he was seemingly struck by a car and in very poor condition. The dog was almost lifeless, a huge contrast from the energetic furball he was on the field just days earlier.

Luckily, someone managed to rescue the stray and brought him to a local shelter, where he received first aid and has had the chance to recover from his injuries.

When the player that carried him off the field, Raul Castro, heard about Cachito’s accident, he decided to do something amazing.

It seems like he truly bonded with the four-footer because he has promised to adopt Cachito and give him a warm and loving home once he’s fully recovered from his injuries. What a beautiful ending!
