Unfortunately, there are a lot of animals out there who seemingly never find a loving forever home. Even though dogs and cats can find some refuge at a shelter sometimes, it just isn’t the same.
When these shelter animals get adopted, however, it has got to be one of the happiest days of their lives! They get a second chance to live in a family, hang around with a loving owner, and have a bowl of food and water ready for them every single day.
Sounds pretty exciting of course, but it’s also something that a lot of animals have difficulties adjusting to. That’s why some shelter animals will be a little bit timid and calm the first few days until they finally get to show their real and energetic selves once they’ve settled in.
In other words, being adopted is a very special day for animals, so this adorable puppy decided to dress up for the occasion in a beautiful puppy tuxedo.
The shelter staff that had been taking care of this adorable puppy, who listens to the name Vincente, decided to dress him up for the occasion. The dog was actually rescued in La Calera, Colombia by the animal organization Fundación Rescátame. He was transferred over to a nearby shelter, and it didn’t take long before a family wanted to adopt him.
Things were looking very bright for Vincente! The family was excited, the adoption papers were already signed, and it seemed like this cute puppy would be running around in a new home soon.
Vincente was looking very sharp and dapper in his tuxedo, and he waited all day for his new owners to come and get him. Who wouldn’t want to have this precious little puppy at home?
Unfortunately, Vincente’s happy ending didn’t happen that day.
The family didn’t even show up at the shelter on the day of adoption, and Vincente dressed up for nothing.
The shelter staff and the employees of the Fundación Rescátame rescue organization were absolutely heartbroken. They shared the pictures of Vincente patiently waiting for his owners in his tuxedo, and they needed to share a heartfelt message on their social media pages.
“Vicente’s alleged adopter never came for him,” they posted on Facebook. “When he was ready for a home, bathed, he canceled his adoption. Then they ask us why we’re so strict with the process, for this reason! Because we don’t want to have any doubt that our furry ones will be in excellent hands for LIFE. If you want to adopt, keep in mind that it’s a commitment forever, animals are not things you can dispose of when you miss the desire to have a dog.”
The message is touching, heartbreaking, and nothing but the truth.
Adopting an animal means you’re committing to taking care of him or her. In a way, it’s better that these new owners decided to leave Vincente at the shelter. After all, it shows that they wouldn’t be fit to be owners of the precious and sweet puppy.
Even though Vincente was quite sad for a few days because he looked forward to it, and then nothing happened, it didn’t take long before the puppy received some good news again.
Three days later, another family wanted to give Vincente a warm loving home, and this time it wasn’t a fluke!
It turns out that the pictures that were shared on social media made quite the round, and the post was shared thousands of times. It didn’t take long before interested families decided to get in touch with the shelter to see if they could adopt him. They had no idea that their post would go so viral!
“Thank you to all the interested people, we never thought your story would go this far,” they wrote.
They also posted a new picture of Vincente with his new family.
“We want to tell you that Vicente has already been adopted by a beautiful family. We still have over 40 furry ones at the foundation waiting for a home ❤”
This puppy finally has a warm and loving family that he deserves. How adorable!
