One of the dog breeds that has gained popularity over the past few years is the Chow Chow.

Chow Chow dogs, which are usually just called “Chows”, aren’t native to the Western world, but actually originated from ancient China. The exterior traits of this breed are absolutely adorable and pretty unique.

When people say that Chow Chows are cute little furballs, that definitely isn’t an exaggeration- not one bit.

Their personalities are also quite unique and loveable.

Chow chows are actually quite serious-minded, but the love for their owners is absolutely huge. They’re very protective, especially of little ones, and are also considered to be a very smart breed. You could say that their looks are the most special thing about them (aside from their hearts).

They do have a mane that definitely stands out, and it even kind of resembles that of a lion. Their very small eyes and a dark blue/black tongue are also quite defining for the Chinese breed.

What’s even cooler is that Chow Chows come in a bunch of different colors.

There are a lot of different colors of fur when it comes to Chow puppies, including traditional colors such as black, gold, and cream, but there are also cinnamon, red and blue Chow Chow pups.

One particular puppy who doesn’t fit in with the rest of the colors has now taken the internet by storm: his coat resembles that of an Oreo cookie!

This adorable dog became quite the internet sensation ever since he was a small puppy, and his special fur is the reason for his popularity, and of course those beautiful blue eyes.

His real name is Chief, but people regularly call him ‘Oreo Cloud’.

A Chow Chow with this fur and markings is pretty unique, and it’s just a beautiful sight to behold, resembling a Husky. His owner, Sara Hamilton, couldn’t be happier with this loving pup.

She got Chief at the age of just six weeks old, and he was probably even cuter as a little baby! According to vets, Chief, or Oreo Cloud, should weigh up to 85 pounds when he’s fully grown up.

As mentioned above, Chow Chows are very smart dogs, and that’s definitely something Sara noticed too. He was immediately potty-trained when Sara took him in! The protective nature of the breed is also very present, as Chief sleeps near the front door at night to keep an eye on the whole family.

One day, Sara posted a picture of Chief in a local Facebook group, and it didn’t take long before people absolutely fell in love with his adorable and beautiful look.

Chief is very easy-going and is actually going through training to become a therapy dog.

After his training, Chief will be able to work with children at hospitals, for example, to provide them with some emotional support and to keep their mind off things.

Sara also noticed that Chief gets along with everyone, but he loves children the most – becoming a therapy dog seemed like a perfect idea.

Because of the coronavirus pandemic, therapy dog training is currently suspended, but Chief should be able to resume classes when he gets older.

Of course, you can keep an eye on all of Chief’s adventures online at his dedicated Instagram-account, @theoreocloud.
