She had studied and practiced law and become a stay-at-home mother. But she needed to do something that would fulfill her.
Jacqui was also living with the knowledge that her mother may not be around for much longer.
She had been diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. The only hope of her survival was if she were to get a lung transplant.
Amazingly, at the 11th hour, they found a donor for Jacqui’s mom.
She underwent transplant surgery. Luckily, it was a success. But the recovery process was still harrowing for everyone.
That was when Jacqui got her inspiration.

Jacqui told Good Morning America:
“All I heard was this big, loud voice that said to me, ‘You have to knit, and it needs to be big.'”
When Jacqui was a child, her mother had taught her how to knit.
But she had abandoned this hobby long ago. But all of a sudden, she felt the urge to get back into this activity and relive some of the happiest days of her life.
So Jacqui embarked on her first gigantic knitting art project!
Jacqui’s father was keen to help out. He gladly provided her with huge knitting needles that he made from PVC piping.
It wasn’t easy for Jacqui to complete her first project.
She hadn’t knitted in many years. Luckily, Jacqui’s mother’s recovery went well, and soon she was able to help her daughter out.
Over the course of a year, Jacqui improved her technique. Eventually, she was knitting humungous creations that she was incredibly proud of.

And then Jacqui felt ready to monetize this hobby. She began selling her artwork.
From the start, Jacqui had used high-end, eco-friendly material, meaning that she was selling her art for high sums. This made initial sales hard to come by, but Jacqui knew that there was an audience for them.
But as the months passed, the art started to sell.
And she became noticed in the art world for her creations. Soon, her knitting creations were being sent to galleries across the globe.
Jacqui decided to give workshops and classes in gigantic knitting.
After all, if others get inspired, and others are able to find happiness through knitting, then that can only be a good thing!
“Any crafter will tell you that knitting, crochet, embroidery is always an excellent pathway to some pretty deep, introspective work.” – Jacqui talking to GMA.
