Christmas is a wonderful time of the year, and many people try to do good deeds, help others, be kind and giving. That Christmas magic had such a big impact on a blogger mom, who decided to share her most embarrassing story yet.
Mary Katherine Backstrom is a popular blogger and mom of two children, aged 3 and 5. The other day, she shared a hilarious video on Facebook. According to her narration, as she was on her way to pick her children up from school, she stopped at the Wawa gas station. While walking in there, she was reading an article about how everyone becomes so generous during the Christmas holidays, and how this makes this time of the year so magical.
Backstrom, influenced by the article, decided to do her own act of generosity that day. As she was standing in line to pay for her purchases, she noticed the lady behind her who was waiting to pay for her Gingerale. She offered to pay for her drink since she couldn’t afford anything fancier, so she did and, as she said, the two shared a precious moment.
Then she left the gas station and, as she was walking to her car, she realized a man was cleaning the windshield of her car. Backstrom felt the Christmas magic to fill the air- she was super excited that her act of generosity in Wawa was now in a way being returned in the form of a man cleaning her windshield. So, she went over to him, thanked him and gave him a hug.
“So I walk up to this man and I am like ‘This is my favorite part of humanity! I love Christmas so much, thank you for doing this.’ and I give him a hug. It wasn’t my car!” she said while cracking up laughing.
At that point, Backstrom can’t contain herself and a fit of giggles hits. She then explains that, after realizing her mistake, she felt so embarrassed that she couldn’t stay and explain to the man what had happened, so she rushed to her car and left. Then she went to a different parking lot, where she went live and shared this embarrassing yet hilarious moment.
The video has been viewed so far 44 million times and shared by more than 145K people. Backstrom’s Facebook followers immediately replied that she had made their day with her contagious laughter.
“oh my stars…my cheeks are hurting so hard..I so need this..” one user wrote, while another one said: “That hug may have been just what that man needed to remind him of the magic of Christmas.”
So, yes, this was probably one of this woman’s most embarrassing moments in the entire year, but she really managed to put a smile on the faces of millions of people who watched her video. Isn’t this, too, part of the Christmas magic? Making people around you happy even for moments? Mary Katherine Backstrom, mission accomplished.
