If you have mature skin, then you’ll probably be aware of the struggles that come with finding a foundation that sits nicely.
Makeup has the ability to make us look youthful and can highlight our best features- but if applied incorrectly, it can actually do the opposite.
Since naturally aging skin contains more wrinkles and fine lines, you want to be mindful of the kind of makeup you apply- particularly your base. Your foundation has the ability to make or break your entire look, and can easily make you look more youthful if you use the right products and techniques.
If you’re stuck on where to begin, then luckily, Dubai Makeup Artist Hindash has some tips.
One of his most viewed videos from March of last year shows exactly how he applies makeup to mature skin, and the results are absolutely out of this world.
It’s unsurprising that the video has been viewed over 2.9 million times.
Hindash explains in the video’s caption: “I’m back with Caroline to revisit the first video we did, this time creating a “lighter” look in terms of skipping foundation and moving straight on to concealer. This is an approach I’d go for for everyday makeup, give and take a few steps and adjust to your preference! Enjoy!!”
The video is over 12 minutes long and contains some really handy tips and tricks, the best of which we’ve picked out below:
First up, Hindash stresses the importance of prepping the face with some good, hydrating skincare products. This will help wake up the skin and help the foundation sit better.
Once the skincare products are applied, Hindash preps Caroline’s eyes for eyeshadow by using an eye base, before adding concealer lightly in any areas that are discolored. He then uses a lighter shade under the eyes and on the chin to help lift and brighten the face.
The most important thing is to properly blend in your concealer!
Blush is bang on trend this year, and adding some high up on the cheekbones will give your face a dramatic lift. Hindash also adds under-eye powder to set the look and prevent Caroline’s face from appearing shiny.
It’s best to use the smallest amount of product and build it up.
Hindash fills in Caroline’s brows with some brow powder, before moving onto the eyeshadow. He highlights the browbone with a gorgeous shimmer color before selecting a warm brown tone for the crease of the eye. He then applies a lighter brown color to the eyelid.
After that, Hindash outlines Caroline’s eyes with a pencil eyeliner and blends it with some eyeshadow to create a gorgeous smokey effect. Next, he applies some individual lashes to Caroline’s eyes to really open them up.
Next up is lipstick, and you should always prep and hydrate your lips before applying any color.
To make Caroline’s lips appear more full, Hindash outlines her lips with a darker lip pencil, before going in with a lighter share of lipstick over the top.
If you have small lips, this is a great technique for giving the illusion of bigger lips.
With the lipstick done, Caroline lets her hair down and holds up a mirror to examine the finished look. She looks absolutely stunning!
