Time and time again, K9 units prove why they’re absolutely essential to the police force. When they combine forces with a human officer, they’re one of the most versatile, fast, and effective police duos, and a team to be reckoned with.
Whether it’s sniffing drugs, detecting bombs, or taking down criminals, a K9 unit can make policing tasks so much easier and quicker.
Of course, aside from the very serious and sometimes extremely dangerous work, it’s also important to have a little bit of off-time with your K9 partner, and that’s exactly what happened in this adorable video.
In the video, we see police officers dancing along with a canine unit, and they’re doing the popular ‘Git Up Challenge.’
This wasn’t just a regular Git Up Challenge dance video, it was a whole orchestrated story about two competing police forces!
In Sutter County, California, there are two sides of law enforcement. In one corner, there’s the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office, but there’s also the Yuba City Police Department. They’re basically neighbors, and the Sheriff’s office is actually located in Yuba City.
Since these two are so close to each other, they often work together to take down criminals or do joint operations.
The two forces get along perfectly, except for one little thing. They can’t seem to resolve their issues about a parking spot.
A Yuba City police vehicle as well as another vehicle from the Sheriff’s department were both closing in on a parking spot, but the two officers kept on arguing. Who did this parking spot belong to?
Things quickly escalated, and both officers called in their superiors to ask for assistance. Not too long after, the horsepower arrives.
Members of both police forces are seen marching outside, and of course, the classic Imperial March soundtrack from Star Wars can be heard in the background.
These two sides were about to battle to settle their differences that way.
“Listen, here meow!” is the first thing that the Sherriff shouts, which is actually a reference to the cat and meow game scene from the Super Troopers movie.
Finally, someone from the Sutter Court arrived to set things straight.
They were told to “work it out”, and what better way to settle a difference than by doing the Git Up challenge?
Both police forces converge at their side and their own vehicles, and the popular song by Blanco Brown starts playing. Thousands of people have uploaded videos of the Git Up challenge and it has become quite the hype online.
The Sheriff’s Office had a surprise in store: one of the officers on their team was a K9 unit!
You could say that this police dog has a bit of an advantage because he can move on four legs instead of two, and the four-footer definitely manages to grasp the attention of viewers.
When all of the officers start dancing, you can tell how this absolutely precious and cute pooch tries to keep up. He’s not really sure what’s going on either, especially when everyone starts spinning around.
The smart, talented police dog probably thinks they’ve all lost their damn minds!
Even though it must’ve been a very confusing sight, this K9 dog tried to mimic the movements of his partners as best as possible, and it’s an incredible sight to behold.
Judging by his excitement and wagging tail, the dog absolutely loved doing this challenge too!
So how does the story end?
Who gets the right to the parking spot? Well, neither.
Their problem was definitely not resolved, but the two polices forces came together in the end to spread a message:
“One fight. One cause.”
The video went massively viral on YouTube with millions of views, and it’s clear that the K9 unit stole the show.
