When animals encounter a respectful and loving owner, they will often provide you with an incredible amount of unconditional love. When they are born, they don’t know how to hate, but definitely know how to show love and affection towards people who deserve it.
Unfortunately, there are still a ton of animals in the world who have to suffer from severe neglect or abuse. It’s absolutely astonishing that people willingly hurt animals for their own pleasure, and it’s something that must stop.
According to animal organizations, the majority of animal abuse cases aren’t even reported to the authorities.
After all, it’s not exactly easy for an animal to ask for help, and most cases of abuse stay well-hidden in the confines and privacy of one’s home. They’re completely voiceless and helpless.
The horse who was given the name Major Deal knows what it’s like to lead a tragic and abusive life.
It was pure hell for most of his days, but then Major came across a kind mind who would rescue him and change his life forever.
The man’s daughter, Janna Grapperhaus, recently shared the heartwarming story of her father and Major on her Facebook page.
One day, her dad bought a young stallion, and the horse was very vicious. Some even thought he was downright dangerous.
According to the seller’s profile, the horse, Major Deal, was abused by his previous owners for most of his life. Janna even described an absolutely horrifying technique these owners used to ‘break’ the horse.
They would simply beat the horse up without any regret or mercy until the poor four-footer was unable to stand on his own. Then, the men would tie his head between posts, to even prevent him from resting. Of course – the horse would spend his days without adequate food or water.
Major had to endure this horrifying abuse for weeks, until one day, everything changed.
The horse was put up for sale, but Major most definitely wasn’t the sweet, affectionate, and gentle majestic animal he once was. After all this terrible abuse, it’s not exactly surprising either.
Major didn’t trust humans anymore and would act aggressively against anyone – and who could blame him?
When Janna’s dad took the stallion home after the purchase, the initial encounter didn’t really go very well. Despite the family taking good care of Major, he would bite any person who would come close to him.
The poor animal was terrified and completely traumatized, and his personality changed so much purely as a defense mechanism. Most people would argue that this horse was a lost cause and that the man should give up on Major.
However, Janna’s dad was so determined to bring back the loving personality of Major and kept being patient.
“I’ll never forget the day my mom called me in a panic: ‘Janna, you’ve got to convince your daddy to get rid of that horse, it’s gonna kill him,’” Janna wrote.
It took a lot of time and a lot of effort, but eventually, Janna’s dad managed to earn the fierce stallion’s trust, friendship, and loyalty.
Every single day, the man would spend hours with the horse, proving to him that he didn’t want to hurt him in the slightest and that he just wanted to be friends.
After weeks of hard work, Major started to change.
“Love won and after two full years, Major allowed my dad to ride him. When dad would go out, Major would kiss him on the head over and over. They had a bond that only horse people could ever understand,” Jenna shared in her post.
Tragically, Janna’s father recently passed away.
Everyone was left heartbroken, especially poor Major.
After all this time, this man showed Major what it was like to love and be loved again. He allowed the horse to open up his heart and his trust again.
The family thought that it was only fitting that Major would be present at the ceremony, and say his goodbyes.
The horse even gave his best friend one last heartbreaking farewell kiss.
“This is Major’s last kiss,” Janna wrote.
The emotional photo has touched the hearts of many on the internet, and it’s just so tear-jerking.
Janna’s family will now take care of the stallion and hope to make dad proud.
