Unfortunately, there are still so many people in the world who have to go to sleep on an empty stomach. It’s a harsh and sad reality that is known across the globe, these people truly have to struggle to survive another day.
In the United States alone, it’s estimated that there are over 40.6 million people who have to live in poverty.
Thankfully, there are always Good Samaritans out there with a kind and generous heart who are willing to help out people who need it the most.
The following kind act from a bartender in Memphis, Tennessee is a perfect and heartwarming example of that.
Tucker Beck works as a bartender at Huey’s, a place known for its homemade burgers and delicious cold drinks. One day, he saw how a homeless man walked inside the restaurant.
The homeless man was definitely hoping to get a meal, and Tucker noticed how he was asking other customers for any spare cash.
Tucker noticed that the man was always extremely respectful and polite, as not everyone was willing to hand him some money. After spending some time at the restaurant, the homeless man was able to collect two dollars.
Even though the two dollars weren’t enough to get a meal at the restaurant, the man figured he could try his luck and ask bartender Tucker what he’d be able to get. Usually, two dollars wouldn’t even be enough to get a drink – let alone a warm meal.
Dawn Wilt was dining at the restaurant, and couldn’t help but overhear the conversation between the homeless man and the bartender. Their interaction absolutely warmed her heart.
When the man approached him, Tucker immediately gave him a warm and friendly greeting, without any prejudice.
“What can I get you, man?” The man then said to him, “I am hungry, what can I get here with $2?”
It didn’t occur for one second to Tucker that he should tell him that $2 wasn’t nearly enough. In fact, he simply asked him what he wanted.
“What you want man, a burger? Do you want fries or onion rings?”
The man was completely shocked and certainly didn’t expect that he’d be able to get a full meal.
He responded with a “God bless you” to thank the kind man for his generosity.
He also made sure to provide the homeless man with as much water as he needed, especially since it was a hot summer day at more than a hundred degrees.
Even after taking his ‘order’, Tucker made sure to give him something extra.
This wasn’t your typical meal at Huey’s with a burger, fries, and a drink – it was so much more. He handed the man an additional meal-to-go bag filled with more food.
At least he wouldn’t have to worry about a meal for the coming days, all because this kind man wanted to help out someone in need.
“It was a magical thing for him – I think it was just a normal day at Huey’s for us though,” bartender Tucker explained to Local 24.
Dawn was so touched by the whole interaction and posted a picture of the bartender and his kind actions on her Facebook page.

This actually isn’t the first time that the bartender helped out a homeless person. During one of the previous summer seasons, there was a homeless woman who sought shelter at a bus stop across the restaurant. Every single day he spotted her, Tucker decided to bring the woman a burger and a drink.
What an absolutely amazing bartender!
A small act of kindness can certainly go a very long way.
