Are you a certified dog lover? Do you experience those moments where you stare at your dogs and realize how lucky you are to have them?
How can you describe your fur baby in one word? Bet it would be hard to do so, and we understand why. They are so cute, kind, cuddly, and of course, the love that they give us is just overwhelming!
But did you know that dogs were originally bred to help us humans with our work?
Our dogs today are a little bit different from their ancestors. Let us go back and learn some of our beloved canine’s history. Most of the breeds that we know and love today originated from a specific region of the world that needed a specific dog!
Each dog breed had their purpose. They were considered as specialty workers, and were bred to help us with different tasks. In fact, they looked a lot different a hundred years ago compared today.
The adorable dog breeds that we know and love today looked different before. If you will do research, you will see the differences in each breed.
Take a look at this example below.
An article from Business Insider tackled the differences in dog breeds. In 1915, according to Dogs of All Nations, our beloved German shepherd dog was just a “medium-sized dog.” It usually weighed 55 pounds and according to them, they had a “deep chest, straight back and strong loins.”
Today, German Shepherds are being bred as larger types of dogs, ranging from 75 to 95 pounds.
Now, have you ever wondered why some dogs bark more than others?
As canines, barking is a part of their nature. It’s a behavior that we’re already used to, but not too much. Let’s face it, too much barking, especially when it’s night time or when we’re busy can be quite annoying, but dogs bark for a reason.
Of course, we all know that barking is one way a dog can alert us in any event that there’s danger or an intruder. It’s amazing how protective dogs are, that they are willing to risk their lives just to protect our home and of course, us too.
Some people choose breeds that are known to be great guard dogs, they are known for their willingness to work, their playful nature, and their concentration levels should also be high. These dogs will not just guard you, your home, but also other animals.
A great example here is the trusted Sheepdog.
If you think that the dog breeds today have forgotten their true nature, then think again. We may have noticed little differences in their looks, and they may have been more domesticated, but their true nature remains, and this video is our proof.
Four years ago, dktr posted a YouTube video that was less than a minute long. The video gained more than 5.2M views and it’s all because of one dog’s amazing skill.
The video starts as we see a sneaky fox enter the gates of a home.
Slowly, the fox walks inside, setting its eyes and focusing it on the chicken coop. He was fast, and he was ready to jump into action at any moment.
We can see that the chickens started being restless, as if knowing what will happen to them, but in a split second, we see a dog jump into action, chasing away that sneaky fox from his home!
He was big, and he was agile! Good work!
The fox was caught by surprise, and he just ran away, hopefully, never to return. This dog was able to stop the fox from eating the chickens and destroying his owner’s property!
This dog must have been really proud of himself, and of course his owners as well.
That’s the reason why this video earned 5.2M views, and we just can’t help but admire this dog’s courage and strength!
