For those of you that don’t know Dick Van Dyke, all you basically need to know is that this man is a living legend.
He’s worked in the entertainment industry for nearly seven decades, and his career has taken many turns, from gracing the stages of Broadway to starring in his own television show. He’s also famously known for his roles in classic films such as Bye Bye Birdie, Mary Poppins, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and more recently, Night At The Museum.
In his own comedic TV show, The Dick Van Dyke Show, he won over audiences with his great charisma, effortless likability, and clever sense of humor. Even decades after the show went off air, it was still one of the most popular syndicated shows on global television.
His resume also includes comedic stand ups and incredible singing performances. In fact, at the fruitful age of 90 years old, the entertainer refuses to give up his love for performing.
In his first ever viral video below, Dick Van Dyke and The Vantastix, an acapella quartet led by Van Dyke, perform what he calls “flash mob singing” to a group of customers at a Denny’s Restaurant in Santa Monica, CA.
As you can see, Van Dyke has not lost any of his energy, charisma, or sense of youthfulness. His voice is dynamic and his smile lights up the room. The acapella group typically perform a series of songs associated with Van Dyke’s most popular films. In the video below, the group perform their impromptu rendition of the classic song from Van Dyke’s movie, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
Dick Van Dyke serves as an example to all of us, at any age. At the age of 90 years old, he maintains the same vibrant spirit and energy that he had 50 years ago. He has not allowed his age to place limitations on the life he chooses to live, defining his own terms and still performing up to date.
Van Dyke demonstrates that one’s age is nothing but a simple number.
