Unfortunately, not every baby that is born gets to have two loving and caring parents who look after them. Sometimes, they’re not even wanted by their parents, and those situations are just so painful and tragic for these little ones.
Shortly after birth, one mom decided that she didn’t want to take care of her newborn anymore.

The reason why? The baby was born with Down Syndrome.
Mom kept pushing her husband to put the child in foster care instead.

Down Syndrome is an uncommon, but still not an extremely rare medical condition. It’s estimated that around 1 in 700 children are born with the extra chromosome, resulting in Down Syndrome – that’s roughly about 1.3 million babies per year.
The condition is a genetic defect and applies to people who are born with an extra copy of chromosome 21.
The vast majority of people have a total of 46 chromosomes (in pairs of two), but people with Down have one extra, essentially making chromosome 21 triplets.

Down Syndrome causes a couple of disorders, both physically and mentally, but this greatly varies on a case by case basis.
Their appearance is a little bit more outspoken, and they also have special needs. They often struggle with living independently and also can’t conceive children of their own.

Of course, children with Down’s might need some extra special care, but they also deserve every bit of love and attention from their parents.
Tragically, it still occurs way too much that parents simply don’t want to take care of their child with special needs, and they often end up in the foster or adoption system.
Even though awareness for the syndrome has increased over the past few years, there’s still somewhat of a stigma and negative connotation about the genetic condition.

A couple from Russia had no idea that their child Misha would have Down Syndrome, and they discovered it mere moments after birth.

Luckily, dad Evgeny Anisimov was more than willing to give his little one all the love and attention he needed.
It didn’t really matter to him that his child had a genetic disorder, he was deadset on raising him as his own and being Misha’s father, no matter what.
Unfortunately, the boy’s mother thought otherwise and wanted to get rid of him.

At the time, the doctors weren’t a hundred percent sure and still needed to do some tests, but Evgeny’s wife wasn’t happy about it all.
“I didn’t know what to do when I learned of the hypothesis that my son had Down Syndrome,” the newfound father told BoredPanda. “I thought my task now was to turn off emotions, ignite thoughts, support my wife because I believed it would be more difficult for her.”

When the doctors confirmed Misha’s condition, mom wanted to put him in foster care or put him for adoption.
Dad Evgeny decided to leave his wife and take care of his boy all on his own.
The 33-year-old father wouldn’t even think about giving up his own child! He had always hoped that his wife would seriously reconsider her choice, but that never happened. As a result, the couple split, but Evgeny and Misha still had each other.

“The child is special, his life and future destiny are already very significant,” dad Evgeny said.
The story made the national news, and Evgeny is using his popularity to raise awareness online about Down’s syndrome.

He’s already amassed over 40,000 followers on his Instagram-account, where he shares beautiful pictures and stories about himself and Misha. It’s just a pure joy to scroll through all these happy posts.
“When a child is born, he asks the outside world: ‘Am I needed here or not?’ And I answer with certainty: ‘Son, you are needed!’ Being with him, even alone, is a normal act for a normal man. I emphasize—I am a normal man, not some kind of hero.”

Just look how amazing and happy these two are!
Evgeny couldn’t be happier with his little boy. As for Misha, he clearly is getting all the love he deserves, and it’s beautiful to witness.
