Would you do this if they were your kids?

Even though a lot of people have never heard of Reddit before, it is definitely a place where a lot of stories are told, and thousands of people can discuss a variety of different subjects anonymously.

Recently, one father decided to post his doubts and concerns online about his two children still bathing together. It’s a pretty awkward question to ask and think about: at what age are children too old to take a bath together?

For these two boy-girl twins of 11 years old, the topic of bathing together was actually quite touchy. Mom thought that it wasn’t an issue at all, but the father was very uncomfortable with the whole idea.

The father considered 11-years-old to be too old.

After all, he figured they would be hitting puberty very soon. The subject is very sensitive, to say the least.

Ever since they were born, mom decided to bathe both twins together. There’s definitely nothing weird about it to let two babies bathe together, but when dad learned that mom still let them in the bathroom together at eleven years old, the man was kind of creeped out about it.

He had a fight with his wife about it, who urged him not to sexualize the children at this age.

The Reddit post, which has now been deleted, attracted a lot of parents weighing in on the situation, and this was one of the situations where you don’t really know who was right and who was wrong.

“So let me just say, I love my son and daughter dearly,” the anonymous dad posted in the famous ‘AmITheA**hole’ subreddit. “They’ve been a blessing on the lives of my wife and I, and I thank God for them every day.”

“When we first had them, we bathed them at the same time just to save time and because it’s easier to keep an eye on them if they’re in the same place. But they’re about to hit puberty (about to turn 11 next month) and I don’t think they should be doing it anymore.”

In the rest of the post, the father made it clear that he thought it just wasn’t normal for “pubescent children to bathe together.”

The fact that they were twins didn’t change the situation for him.

Aside from bathing together, the father actually was worried about a couple of other things as well.

Apparently, the twins are very touchy with each other and spend most of their time together. He thought it was specifically awkward that the twins kept holding hands in public at that age, and they hugged all the time.

At this point, the father was just a bit confused and didn’t know if this was normal behavior for twins.

When talking about it with his wife, she instantly dismissed his concerns and thought that it wasn’t odd in the slightest.

“She says they’ve been doing it their whole life, they’re just kids, etc, what’s the problem with it? She says it’s wrong for me to sexualize them in the first place, since they’re just kids and they’re siblings,” he wrote.

The man shared his post on Reddit, hoping to get an answer to his question:

“What do you think? Am I just being a prude?”

The comments underneath the Reddit post were quite divisive, to say the least. Everybody certainly didn’t hold back to pen down their opinions, and it was quite a mixed bag.

Some fully agreed with the father, while others thought that he was simply overreacting.

“11? They’re old enough to shower! I would say they can shower separately at this point as well,” one Reddit-user wrote.

“The hugging and holding hands is fine, they love each other. The bathing together, at age 11? That’s creepy,” another person commented.

“They’re far too old to bathe together. It’s borderline creepy at this point.”

Some people also agreed with the mom and didn’t see anything wrong with bathing together.

“Please don’t listen to the people who are calling your kids creepy and abnormal. They are neither of those things,” a user answered him.

“Me and my twin brother bathed together until around 12-13. Was just a convenience thing and we didn’t care. I wouldn’t force the issue and just let them grow out of it,” someone else posted.

In the end, this touchy and sensitive subject is one that should be discussed between the parents.

This popular post on Reddit definitely showed that the opinions on this are just that- opinions!
