As a parent, the instinct you have to protect your children against any kind of danger is immensely strong.

Sometimes parents can be overly protective too, especially when their little ones are still young.

After all, smaller children have the tendency to be more curious and aren’t really able to think about dangerous situations properly.

When you have a little toddler in the home, this curiosity is definitely something you have to keep a close eye on.

Parents try to be on guard every single minute, but we all know that it’s impossible to perfectly keep an eye on everything all the time. Toddlers will just do what they think, and aren’t able to identify dangerous situations or understand what’s right or wrong.

One of those overly curious toddlers was the one-year-old little guy Rocco Passavanti.

The little boy was actually spending some time with his family at a pool house in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

Rocco and his dad decided to hang out in the pool for a little bit, and there was a pool fence set up so that nobody would fall into the water by accident.

However, because little Rocco got a little bit too curious and wanted to grab a beach ball in the pool, a dangerous incident happened.

It all happened so quickly, and the video footage shows how everything can turn in just a couple of seconds.

Rocco found himself on the other end of the pool fence, but dad Albert was watching very closely as he sat at a nearby table.

Despite his dad shouting to him that he shouldn’t get the ball and instead return to the other side of the fence, little Rocco wasn’t really in the mood to listen to his father.

The beach ball was much more interesting, and the 18-month-old boy decided to ignore him.

Moments later, the toddler tries to pick up the beach ball but ultimately stumbles into the pool.

This time, Rocco didn’t have any kind of floating protection around him, and he couldn’t properly swim on his own.

There were a couple of other people in the pool at the time, and while it’s unlikely that something extremely bad would’ve happened, dad’s instincts immediately kicked in.

Dad only wanted to do one thing: get his little kid to safety as quickly as possible.

The next few seconds are truly spectacular, and look like it came straight out of a wrestling show.

Right away, Albert jumped out of his chair and gracefully dived over the 4-foot fence to get into the pool and to his son.

It was all without hesitation, and dad was able to get his son to safety before the other people in the pool even knew what was going on.

Even though it’s definitely not the most important aspect of the story, the jump over the fence was pretty impressive, to say the least.

He only barely grazed the fence with his foot, and it would be a very difficult task for anyone to get over this obstacle. If you’d like to put things into perspective: this 4-foot pool fence would be the equivalent to jumping over the chest area of a person who’s 5 foot 7.

Dad himself minimizes the heroic rescue:

“Anybody can do that. Anybody can jump over a fence, you know. A kid’s in trouble. You know, you’ve got to get to them as quickly as you possibly can,” he said to Inside Edition.

He also hopes that this story will inspire other parents to always keep an eye out on their toddlers, no matter what.

Something terrible can happen in an instant.

“You just absolutely have to keep an eye on your kids. I don’t care what measures you put in place. Tragedy can happen.”

In any case, Albert’s superman dive over the pool fence has made the national news, and the security video also went viral on the internet.
