The crowd of a high school stadium in Wisconsin definitely made their voices heard during a football game, but it actually wasn’t because of the game itself – everybody went absolutely wild for this particular police intervention.
Police Officer Jack Taschner, who also works as a resource officer for Appleton East High School, was the star of the night!
Because of his job, Officer Taschner definitely knows most of the students on campus and gets to talk with them every single day. Being a police officer is already serious enough, so he doesn’t mind having some fun from time to time with ‘his’ students.
One night, it all came together and he set up the perfect plan to prank and entertain all of the students at the stadium.
The best part? They never saw it coming!
All of this occurred before the coronavirus pandemic hit the country, which is why you won’t see any social distancing or face masks in the video and pictures.
Officer Taschner is a very loyal attendee for every single game that is being held at the high school’s stadium, and he practically knows all of the cheerleading catchphrases by heart. The cheer that is more commonly known as “driving a bus” is probably the most popular and well-liked one at this school.
On this particular evening, he doctored out a plan to join them and entertain the crowd.
“I’ve watched them do it for a number of years, I decided I want to get in and join them,” the police officer revealed in an interview with Inside Edition.
In the middle of a game, the officer decided it was go-time for the prank.
He pretended to discover an “unruly fan”, but it was all part of a bigger plan.
“It just kind of popped in my head: I’d like to join in on them doing their cheer, and whatever they do, the bus driver thing, so I came in Friday morning, I talked to the principals, I said, ‘Hey, here’s what I thought, I had an idea,’ and they said, ‘Yeah, run with it,’” he said to ABC2.
The police officer couldn’t do all of this on his own, so he enlisted the help of another student.
Of course, he told the principals about his plans to prank the entire stadium, and they all went with it. Braden Hutter, a student who is usually responsible for leading the cheering rounds, was the accomplice.
Hutter would be acting as the “unruly fan”, and Officer Taschner would deal with him appropriately.
The plan was set in place, and now it was time to execute it.
“I did my best acting to make sure it was going to work out, and everyone thought I was going to get handcuffed or something and it was just fun to have him ask for my ID and he told me to take a seat like I was in trouble — but then he took over,” the student recalls.
Luckily, the entire prank and act were captured on camera, and it’s just absolutely hilarious to see.
After dealing with the unruly fan, the police officer starts cheering the audience himself!
Watch out cheerleaders, because there’s some serious competition.
Appleton’s own Police Department even shared the footage on their social media pages, and it went viral within a couple of days!
“NO FUN ZONE? Just when it looked like SRO Taschner was breaking up the fun during the Appleton East Football game, expectations changed,” the video description reads.
“I got into it as much as they did,” Taschner said to NBC 26. “When I realized they were all doing it with me, I wanted to let it go on forever, but I knew my legs weren’t going to let me.”
The response has been absolutely amazing, and the officer was thrilled to hear all the positive responses.
Unfortunately, he no longer works there as the school’s resource officer, but he does hope that his successor will continue the tradition of pranking their students once in a while.
“I envision it, as an East tradition. Something that, when I’m done being the SRO [school’s resource officer] here, and someone steps in, they have to step in and do it, too. It’s just a great way for the students and the officers to have that connection.”
This is a surprise cheer performance you just have to see for yourself! Be sure to check it out in the video below.
