According to Son De Flor, “What you have to keep in mind though is that the price of the dress does not matter that much and won’t determine how beautiful and dreamy your wedding day will be. You do not have to buy the most expensive dress in the store to be the prettiest bride, just choose a dress that will make you happy.”
True enough, but the idea could start an argument, don’t you think?
Well, regardless of how much a wedding dress costs – what matters most is the bride being genuinely happy while wearing it, because she is the most beautiful woman on her wedding day.
This bride found the deal on the wedding dress of a lifetime.
In a TikTok video, Jillian Farhadi surprised tons of online viewers with her thrifting skills.
Jillian has a special love story to tell. She and her boyfriend had been together for 13 years, always seeing each other as partners for life, but they hadn’t planned on getting married.
However, something changed about a year ago.
“I don’t know what changed, but about a year ago, we were like, ‘Let’s be husband and wife,’” Jillian remembered.
They decided on a small wedding with just 30 guests at the Social House in Tempe, Arizona.
The venue was perfect, but Jillian still needed to find her dress. She wanted something white but not too fancy.
“I just started looking for dresses, not wedding dresses, but simple white dresses. I didn’t want anything too formal,” she said.
Being someone who loves thrifting, Jillian began her dress hunt in second-hand stores.
Struck by gold within four days: a beautiful Camilla Coelho dress with tags still on, priced at just $3.75, which would normally cost $220.
Excited about her find, Jillian shared it on TikTok and received lots of positive feedback.
She also found a pair of Visanze Collection wedding shoes for $8 at a thrift store.
Though she was unsure about wearing the dress at first, the support she received helped her make up her mind.
“Brides tend to go wedding dress shopping with their mom, their bridal party, or a group of people to get feedback,” she noted.
Sharing her journey on TikTok felt like having that supportive entourage.
To personalize the dress, Jillian got some alterations done, which cost her $110, bringing her total dress expenditure to $113.75.
“I don’t think I’ve ever felt that great in something,” she exclaimed. “That’s what brides should feel on their wedding day, like they’re at their peak beautiful self. That’s exactly how I felt when I put it on.”
But her thrifty resourcefulness didn’t stop there.
Jillian also did her own hair and makeup, ensuring every detail was authentically her.
Although she hadn’t spent her life dreaming of this day, Jillian found herself embracing and cherishing every moment.
Even the traditional ones, like asking her father to walk her down the aisle, which meant a lot to both of them.
The wedding day was a reflection of the couple’s love and their journey together.
It wasn’t about being perfect but about celebrating love, togetherness, and the beginning of a new chapter.
“We rolled with everything,” Jillian said with a smile. “We were together, just having a fun day versus trying to make this planned event go well.”
I think we’d agree that that’s what love is all about.
