An army veteran performs a true act of patriotism in the most unbelievable and coincidental way.
Jason Galvin is not your typical American. Jason is an army veteran, who as of late returned from two tours in Afghanistan. Since his return from battle, Jason has spent most of his time on his lake, relaxing and spending time with his family. Jason is also very proud of his country and what he’s done for it. “A crisp (American) flag in the breeze, rings freedom(.)”, says Jason.
One afternoon, Jason was driving around, when he noticed that an eagle was hanging awkwardly from a very tall tree branch. As he took a second and third look at the eagle, he noticed the eagle was hanging upside down from a rope. For those who don’t know, the eagle is America’s national mammal, an animal that symbolizes America and what it stands for.
Jason decided that he had to do something to save this eagle. Dozens of local residents took notice of the eagle, though no one could come up with a solution to saving the eagle. It was hanging roughly 75 feet above the ground, which seemed too far for anyone to reach. However, Jason came up with a somewhat unorthodox solution.
Jason jokingly said that he “could shoot the eagle down”, which seemed irrational at first, but soon became a reasonable solution to saving the eagle. With permission from the police and fire department, Jason got his .22 caliber rifle and took aim at the eagle. Then, he took several gun shots around the eagle. In fact, he took approximately 150 gun shots! Each shot proved necessary, as one by one, the tree branch lowered down steadily. As the tree branch dropped, so did the eagle, and by the time it was over, the eagle had landed safely on the ground.
Jason says that “It was a lot of tears. It was breathtaking(.)”.
The fact that an American army veteran went out of his way to save one of America’s national mammal, might be the coolest kind of patriotism. It certainly takes your breath away.
