Legally blind for over two decades, Mark is opening a new chapter in the book of life with the help of special technology, which operates an advanced program designed to recreate a visual experience from the wearer’s surrounding environment that can be enhanced and modified to suit the needs of the individual wearer. Where an individual was once impeded by the mountain of daily obstacles they faced while trying to navigate with visual disabilities, these glasses now offer a new chance at life where no opportunities were ever previously available.

Employing the use of high-speed cameras inside the glasses, the captured live video stream is instantly sent to a powerful onboard computer that enhances the video to display on organic LED screens in front of the user’s eyes. Breaking through any particular visual impairment, the video stream shown to the wearer allows for unprecedented clarity and various ranges of vision to transition between the needs of the individual, from reading a license plate to seeing your favorite team play from across the sports stadium.

Once facing insurmountable challenges such as lack of adequate transportation and means of consistent income, individuals like Mark are finding that they can create an amazing new life full of active engagement with their surroundings. No longer held back by the various conditions that could limit a person’s sight, an entirely new avenue of life is opened up and waiting to be explored by many who thought it was impossible to be able to see clearly again. Reading, exploring the outdoors freely, meeting new people while seeing their faces and experiencing the full beauty of a quiet rain storm are just a few of the experiences people just like Mark are having again for the first time in many years.

While Mark was feeling very overwhelmed with the exquisite detail that he could now see and interact with, his initial experience was met with questions from his friends and family that came to support Mark during his venture back into the beautiful world of color. “What’s it like?” piped up one of the people in the room.

“Eye opening, wow. I’ve known you all of these years and I never knew what you really looked like,” replied Mark, “Now that I can see you, you’re a pretty good-looking guy!”

Sharing laughs and a newfound sense of joy and purpose with his loved ones, Mark will not be the only one to benefit from this amazing innovation in visual technology. As this amazing field of technological development continues to grow and improve, thousands of people will be given the opportunity to live a life they thought was impossible without the life changing technology provided by eSight and other future developers.
