Even though dogs technically can’t speak, some four-footers definitely know how to communicate well with humans. Whether they’re hungry, want to take a walk outside, or just want some cuddles, pet owners will often have a good idea of what their pooches are thinking.
This dog, however, wasn’t hungry or down for some playtime, but he wanted to express his incredible gratitude to a kind stranger who rescued him.
One day, a woman came across two sibling dogs who were seemingly abandoned.
To make matters worse, they were locked up with two-foot chains and it was a scorching hot summer day.
The two pups were completely unsheltered and didn’t have access to clean water or food – they couldn’t even move properly. When the woman first saw these two, her heart absolutely broke.
She waited to see if any owners or help would show up, but once she realized these dogs were on their own, she decided to do something about it.
“I saw abandoned dogs for days with no food, water or shelter, dying in 100 + degrees. They were tied up on two-foot chains, not able to move. I waited to see if someone would help them and I couldn’t sleep at night, so I saved them,” the woman posted.
The woman decided to capture the events after the rescue on camera, and she managed to capture one of the dogs’ incredible reactions for all of us to see.
The kind woman took both dogs into her car to drive them somewhere safe, and one of the two pooches was sitting in the passenger’s seat of her SUV. The adorable four-footer then reaches out to his rescuer, mere minutes after he was saved.
The grateful animal with sad eyes put his paws on the woman’s hand to say ‘thank you’.
It’s an undeniable act of gratitude and it’s just so incredibly touching.
“Minutes after, one of the dogs reached for my hand multiple times wanting affection. It broke my heart that he’d been neglected and was dying and wasn’t mad at me but grateful.”
The small gesture from the animal actually broke the woman’s heart as soon as she realized what kind of horrible things these dogs must’ve been through.
She clearly gets very emotional and can’t hold back her tears anymore.
“I started to cry and again, his focus shifted from himself to now my needs. I couldn’t believe so much love came from an animal that literally just came from a situation like he was in,” she concluded.
It appears as if the dog completely understands that this woman is in emotional distress, and tries to calm her down by getting closer to her and snuggling for a while.
Keep in mind that these are complete strangers to each other and that they only met minutes ago – the way this dog behaves to her rescuer is absolutely astonishing and warmed the hearts of the entire internet.
“God bless these people who rescue animals,” one YouTuber commented.
“He’s a smart boy! He knew that you were giving him comfort and when he saw you were upset and crying he did the same for you too! I sure hope that you kept him as your own little angel dog!!!” another person added.
“Kind of amazing that all of us here can read this dog’s body language and facial responses and know what he’s feeling. He is so calm, loving and happy to be comforted and loved.”
