Have you ever noticed that, besides the makeup and clothes, a woman’s haircut has a tremendous effect on her look? Have you realized that the haircut has this magical ability to make her look younger or older?
Indeed, there seems to be a correlation between hairstyles and how old we look.
For example, it would appear that long hair makes us look older, while short hair has the exact opposite effect.
“Long hair, if not cut and styled right can have an aging effect on some women […]. If the hair is just parted and hangs down on both sides, it creates a vertical focus and adds more gravity to the face,” experts agree.
On the contrary, short hair has a lifting effect, according to the same source.
“By wearing the hair short the focus of the eyes goes upward, fine textures, wispy ends and a little volume on top shift the entire weight of the look and, voila, ten years are gone!”
Indeed, this must be the case. A 70-year-old woman who turned to the famous Makeover Guy a few years ago hoping he would make her look younger is the live proof that this is actually true.
70-year-old Barbara used to have long, grey hair and she wore glasses. The hair along with the accessories made her look like a woman her age or even older, and she definitely wasn’t happy with that.
So, when she realized she wanted to do something to change her appearance, she decided that Chris was the best person to trust for the best results.
Christopher Hopkins, or as he’s commonly known, the Makeover Guy, is an entrepreneur- and much more- who has been wowing the audiences with his dramatic makeovers since 1990. One more makeover was not a big deal for him.
“I’m seventy and it’s time to not look quite seventy,” Barbara said before the makeover took place.
Although Barbara’s hair in a way revealed her age, her spirits and soul were not old at all. In fact, one can tell by watching the video that the elderly woman was full of life and energy.
This is exactly what Chris must have seen in her and decided to give her a haircut that would make her face light up and that would shift focus from Barbara’s wrinkles to the smile on her face.
When Barbara sat on the makeover chair, she said to Chris that she had no preference and that she would let the man do whatever he wanted as long as she looked younger by the end of the process.
And Chris delivered.
The woman, after the haircut, looks at least 20 years younger. The short hair makes her face look fresher and more beautiful than before. Also, the new hair color helped sweeten things up and made her face look great. And, although she would never have dared such a dramatic change, Barbara was really happy with her look in the end.
“It’s not something I ever would’ve chosen for myself and I absolutely love it!” she said.
The YouTube community also loved the makeover and many users complemented Barbara on her amazing new look.
