As the old adage has always stated, “beauty is in the eye of the beholder,” and that’s as true today as it was back in the 1800s when it was first known to be uttered. Beauty is and has always been a very subjective thing, and it doesn’t just apply to people.

There are some more-than-interesting animals out there who have been coined beautiful by some, and not so much by others. Of course, what people think about them has zero bearings on their looks- nature owns in that arena.

Then, there are other animals out there that just about everyone can agree are uniquely beautiful. They are intriguing and even a bit mysterious, and nature just so happens to be full of them.

So, without further ado, here is a list of what we believe are 15 of the most gorgeous creatures creatively colored by nature.

1. A Lucky Cow

Believe it or not, this is not just some strange bit of seaweed floating around in the ocean waters. It’s called a Seadragon and, as you can see, nature saw fit to give it the most gorgeous camo we have ever seen!

We’ve seen brown bears, and we’ve seen black bears. What we haven’t seen before is a Spectacled Bear. One of the last short-faced bears remaining, they are not all that uncommon in the wild. Being able to spot one or snap and otherworldly photo of one, however, is a rare thing indeed.

5. A Pygmy that Pops

This pretty little goat gets all the love for her captivating fur pattern. Like an Australian shepherd crossed with a goat, they are one of the most intriguing little fellas to fall in love with. And, because they’re pygmy goats, they will stay small and adorable forever and are just as much fun to play with as a dog. Perfect gift for the kids in your life wanting a pet? We think so!

6. A Masked Bandit

This beautifully marked kitty is to be held suspect at all times. Not just because nature decided to grace her with a face-mask, that’s not her fault. But, the fact that she’s sporting some camo gear makes us think she’s involved in a highly covert operation and she can’t be trusted.

7. A Deadly Beauty

This neon swimmer is a stunning sight to behold. More than that, it’s even more stunning if you come into contact with it. No, literally. It’s a Mandarinfish and it will lure you in with it’s gorgeous colors. But, when you touch its spiny scales, they will stick right through you and load you up with toxins. So, it’s pretty, but it’s not a fish you want to make “friends” with.

8. Permanently perplexed

This is Sam and, as you can tell, Sam has a serious set of eyebrows on him. No hiding his nature here, folks. All cats are curious and this one has the markings to prove it. Is he perplexed about the bitter drink his parents gulp down in the morning, or is he hinting that you might want to choose a different outfit to wear? We may never know.

9. Perfection squared

We’ve heard of identical twins before, but these cuties are identical in every way- even with their most unique features. With two sets of these captivating eyes staring back at you, how could you ever deny them anything at all? Well played nature, well played.

We know, we know. This cat totally resembles a giant cinnamon roll. As with all cats, though, she’s not really a fan of humans gawking at her. She knows she’s appetizingly gorgeous but she’s not up for grabs. With a stare like that, who would want to test her?

11. Seeing Double

We all know that horses come with some of the most beautiful markings on the planet, but have you ever seen a horse inside a horse before? Us either, until now. Even when she’s not in motion it looks like she’s perpetually running in the wind.

12. Cousin “IT” has a canine lookalike

This regal beauty is a member of the Afghan Hound family, and while they are popularly known for their lengthy locks, we think this one might just steal the show. Just look at that silky, long, beautiful Auburn hair. It’s enough to drive some girls crazy with jealousy.

13. It’s not a Liger

Thanks to Napoleon Dynamite, we were introduced to the idea of uniquely strange species-crosses quite a while ago. Far from the Liger of Napoleon’s dreams, however, this animal is related to two very different types of species. Known as an Okapi, it is basically a cross between a zebra and a giraffe. Of course, unless you live in the wilderness of the Congo, you’d never know.

14. She wears her heart on her…head?

Some of us like to wear our hearts on our sleeves. This sweet calf says why bother wearing it on your sleeve when you can sport it like the gem it is right on your head? Hard not to love a sweetie like this. Just look at those big, brown eyes!

15. Sweet as sugar

If you’re looking for the ultimate companion pet who’s also as cute as a button, the Sugar Glider Bear will steal your heart each and every day. Yes, they can be owned as a pet in many states, but as one Reddit user who has owned them before points out, they’re not the best pets for everyone. For one, they are very social among their own species, and it’s practically mandatory to have at least two of them so they don’t get lonely for their kind.

If you want to own one, make sure to do plenty of research on them about what goes into taking care of them and what you can expect as they grow in your care.
