Years ago, wearing scarves was all the rage. But then their popularity faded. Well, they’re back and trendier than ever.
Thanks to the internet, there’s a quick and easy way to learn how to tie a scarf for any occasion. Whether you want to wear one to a formal event or with casual attire, there’s an option that’s just right. With so much versatility, both men and women love to wear them.
5.8 Million and counting
That’s the number of views on one of Dominque Sachse’s websites where she teaches people all about beauty, health, and fashion, including cool ways to tie scarves. And the best part, she makes it easy. So, if you want to look trendy, this is for you.
For her demonstrations, Dominique uses a 44 x 44-inch scarf. But that doesn’t mean you can’t achieve these same looks with different sizes. By watching her video, you’ll get step-by-step instructions.
The Western look
Living in Houston, Texas, she begins with a style that’s tending there … the Western look. This takes about a minute to complete. Once the scarf is tied, it boasts a high collar with flair.
In only 10 seconds, you can go from plain to glamorous. In this case, the scarf transforms into a “shawl” that drapes over the shoulders. You can put the knot in the front or turn it to the side, whichever you prefer.
If you’re outside on a cool evening but forgot to take a light jacket, you can create one with a scarf. It gives the arms just enough cover and looks amazingly stylish. You could wear this with just about anything.
Especially when wearing a high-collar blouse or shirt, this is perfect. All you have to do is fold the scarf as shown in the video so you end up with a two-inch width “chocker.” You can add a second larger knot to make it even trendier.
The simple look
It doesn’t get any easier than this. By rolling the scarf, again, so it’s about two inches wide, you can then drape it around your neck. To make it a little fancier, you can loop the two ends over each other.
Remember when we said that scarves are incredibly versatile? Well, here’s proof. Instead of tying it around your neck, you can put it through the loops on a pair of pants or a skirt and turn it into a belt.
The purse accessory
For this, simply tie a scarf around the handle of a purse with coordinating colors. This is a great way to accessorize a handbag. But it also gives you quick access to a scarf if you need to make a bolero jacket.
Do you have a hat that you love to wear but you’re not overly fond of the band it came with? You guessed it. You can tie a scarf around the hat to cover the original band, creating an entirely new look.
During the 1960s, a lot of women wore headscarves. Fortunately, they’re back in style. This is a great way to keep hair out of your eyes when boating, motorcycle riding, or four-wheeling.
With this, you turn a scarf into a top. If you’ve been at the pool or beach all day but want to grab a bite to eat, you can tie a scarf to create a coverup. Even as a casual top, it’s super cool.
