Tattoos are amazing works of art. Artists take hours to painstakingly leave a permanent mark on a person’s body. But while these artists show incredible skill at doing so, sometimes a customer will ask to cover up an existing tattoo for “reasons”. Artists will completely hide the old design or use it to create a new one, leaving viewers in awe of their skill. Here’s some of the best.
1. Flowers Cover Up
Now this is how flowers blossom and bloom. You really couldn’t make out the old one either way. It’s a rebirth of colors that are so striking you’d see it from a good distance.

2. Before and after
Nothing really wrong with the previous one but it’s like going from 240p to full high definition on a new screen. The eye for detail, shading, and colors are truly out of this world.
I like both the before and after of this tattoo, but a well done rework nonetheless

3. Portrait Tattoo Fix
Nothing wrong with being an up and coming artist but the difference is night and day. After all, if it’s your kid’s face, you would want the best. And therefore pay for the best.
4. Pikachu
This beloved character has found itself on a lot of bodies. Fans of Pikachu certainly have an eye out for detail. This one took an old tat and transformed it in to 2 Pikachus.
5. Just Wow
The shark moved upwards and faced front. Now this is an amazing piece. It’s hard to make out the old one but the work done has people dropping their… jaws.
6. From cub to alpha
Think of it as a cub growing up and making his way in to the jungle world. The bigger he grows, the more it all gets clearer. Not just to his eyes, but ours as well.
7. Fantastic White Rabbit Rework
That depressed looking rabbit has got a reason to smile now. Fantastic touch up skills by the artist. There’s still hope if you want to jump down the rabbit hole.

8. That’s much, much better
Holy… How the artist managed to conceptualize such an incredible design is beyond us. Forgiveness from beyond was extended to the first artist. Let’s hope.
9. That’s an upgrade
From an old phone to a massive high definition screen. That’s certainly what it looks like. Even John and Samuel would be very pleased with this work. Minus the language.
10. Cruci-Fixed
It’s a really simple design that’s blossomed into a beautiful work of art. Much like what it stands for, the artist took the same approach to turn something so sad to something spectacular.
11. Mary Who? I Only Love Marge
Doh! Homer won’t like seeing his wife on someone else’s skin but this is a relly simple way of covering up “Mary”. Whoever she is and whatever she did.
12. Backpiece Cover Up
Mermaids, depending on where you’re from, are mythical and magical creatures. This stunning cover up may have been intended to change the design but it worked in the mermaid’s favor.

13. From alien to cat
Why have some weird, green big-headed creature when you can have a soft, warm, cuddly cat? This one’s easy. Cat wins every single time.

14. What an eye-opener
The colors, the sharpness, and the very cool design are all sure to catch anyone’s eye. It could even be mistaken for a continuation instead of a cover up. Like most problems are handled.
15. Rodney Eckenberger is a hero
Even Clark Kent would lower his glasses in awe of this work. It’s not just a cover up of his logo, (which he’d want) but of an arm. Mr. Eckenberger, you have more customers waiting.
16. That’s another way of dealing with a bottle problem
Stitch goes well anywhere he’s placed. Even adults want the little guy with them wherever they go. And should you have a problem with a bottle, let Stitch handle it.

17. The way of the warrior
Now this is beautiful. It’s one of those tattoos that will have strangers turning their heads just to see it again. You have to love how the sword just blends with his rear shoulder.
18. Aye aye captain
In a world full of gadgets where everything can be accessed and found with a tap, seeing a compass can be a real treat. To have one on your body is on many levels of cool.
19. Unleash the wolf within
This lady had her coming of age it would seem. She’s earned her place and is now a very important member of the tribe. And all it took was a skilled hand.
20. Re-ink-arnation
Let’s say it. The old one looks pretty lifeless. The artist was more than glad to breathe new life into this one. Flowers should bloom for all to appreciate.

21. Now that’s a cover up
Any girl would love to have more flowers. But this one won’t whither and die. Not if her artist can help it. This is one set all suitors have to live up to. Good luck.
22. Tricky but a treat
It even looks like you can flip it up. Though that would be weird. From an ordinary black and red layout, the artist created a landscape you’d never get tired of looking at.
23. Zombie Pinocchio
He’s a real boy for sure. Which means Pinocchio is subject to the laws of nature just like everyone else. In the afterlife, is that nose supposed to grow when he lies, or does it decompose further? Asking for a friend.

24. Peacocking at its finest
Flex and shine, Boss Tattoos! This is a stunning job, perfectly bringing out a peacock’s true colors. It’s not an animal most people would think of getting done but this one really works.
25. The Dark Knight does rise
No matter who your favorite Bruce Wayne is, this Batman tat just screams “I’m Batman!” in that deep, husky voice. Time to round up Gotham’s most wanted.
