Blonde, brunette, redhead, going grey? All beautiful hair colors. But some people like to explore the rest of the rainbow as a way of expressing their personal style.
And whether you’re a fan or not (you don’t have to be willing to have green hair to think it’s kind of cool though), it’s hard to say that some of the rainbow hairstyles here aren’t downright impressive.
They’re the work of Russian artist Snezhana Vinnichenko, who lives in Saint Petersburg. Her posts on her Instagram keep us endlessly entertained and dreaming of a day (or lifetime) when we could rock hair this bold.

1. Strawberry Fields Forever
Wow! A rainbow under strawberry blonde hair looks so right! How come we hadn’t thought of this before?
Now this is what we call a surprise! Who could imagine that underneath this brown hair hides a whole spectrum of colors?!
This is sheer beauty: bluish, almost neon, hair that develops into a rainbow is surely a stunner.
We all know how hard it is to get perfect platinum hair. Well, how about spicing it all up by adding in some bright color?! What kind of shampoo do you even go at this with?
Rainbows hidden underneath other colors are fun, but a full-scale rainbow on your head is always a better idea, don’t you think?!
Oh, cool! Vertical rainbows are great, but horizontal ones are even cooler! And this picture proves it.
I mean, how soothing is this picture for the eye? It’s just like cutting into a beautiful cake, isn’t it?
Just another hidden rainbow! We are sure this color also looks great in a ponytail! What do you think?
This one is on the warmer side and we just can’t get enough! It’s like a fire but way cooler!
Don’t get us wrong, but for some reason the way the color is applied in this case makes us think of 80s culture. We love a good blast from the past.
Well, not exactly but you know what you mean. This kind of lighter color is still impressive – and it still lets the eye rest a little.
The color gradation in this case is super interesting! And the fact that there are layers of colors that pop up everywhere is even more eye-catching!
We just love how that hint of violet was incorporated in this rainbow hair. They couldn’t have done it any better!
No doubt this is one of the coolest applications of the rainbow hairstyle! The layering and blending of the colors is really awesome!
Seriously though, it takes lots of skill and practice to reach this level of awesomeness! Hats off to the artist!
Although pink is the main color here, it doesn’t overlap with the rest of the colors in a negative way. They all blend together in a wonderful result.
Nothing new, you said? Well, look closer and you’ll see there’s pink hair hiding beneath the rainbow! This is quite the reverse technique of what we’ve seen so far!
This is a modern take of the “Cruella De Vil” hairstyle and it couldn’t have been more impressive!
19. Slice Me Off A Piece of That
Oh, here’s another one! Yes, please! Serve us a slice of this delicious-looking cake any time!
20. Mermaids and Leprechauns
This is an interesting combination: ocean on the outside, and rainbow on the inside.
Here’s another summery color that gradually goes from yellow to red. It’s a nice combination of warm colors and it screams “passion”!
In this case we have the opposite – starting from reddish colors moving to yellow, while the artist also added a few cooler tones to spice it up a little!
Green has to be one of the most unlikely colors to look good on someone’s head (in fact, some of us have done it accidentally and know for a fact!). But this green is so bold and intentional that we’re mesmerized by it.
Here’s another version of the tone-on-tone style, this time using pink as its base. Still beautiful!
For some reason this reminds us of “My little pony”! It’s such a beautiful and clever combination of colors. Do you think we could hire someone to hold our hair like this all day?
Here’s a brunette who dared to make the difference and reveal the rainbow underneath the darkness! That’s bold!
This one started off as a rainbow, but it looks like they decided to focus on pink and yellow after all, so this is what they did!
The way the colors are applied only tells us that it’s a true artist’s work! Honestly, we just can’t get over the violet color of the roots!
When you can’t decide whether you want a monochromatic look or a colorful one, then this looks like the best solution!
Oh boy! Remember that bubble gum with juice filling that we used to love when we were children? Well, this is exactly what this hair color brings to mind!
Here’s one more lovely take on the blue-and-rainbowy hairstyle. And it turns out perfect every single time!
Seriously though, every hairstyle is better than the previous one! How do they do it?!
This could easily be the feathers of an exotic bird! It’s so beautiful and unique that it left us speechless!
Now this is what we call pleasing! Doesn’t this look like they’re cutting into a cake? We’d definitely ask for more!
It’s amazing how bright the colors of the rainbow look when the darker hair is pulled out of the way.
We’d never imagine blue and green would look so great together- even less so combined with darker, natural-looking hair. Amazing, but probably a hard way to style your bangs if you’re going to go about your day! :)
Here’s another rainbow! And the fact that the girl’s hair is so long gave the artist plenty of space to create his art!
You can find and admire these and more works of art on Vinnichenko’s

Just don’t blame us if it makes you want to book a ticket to Saint Petersburg afterward and have your hair rainbow’d!
