We’ve all heard the term “quiet quitting” to describe our jobs, where a person only does their job and doesn’t beyond necessary. It applies to makeup, too.
Because women have gotten so used to their makeup routines for decades, they believe these routines also work once you’ve reached the age of 50. Makeup rules become different when you reach the age of 50.
Using the same foundation you’ve always used
Let’s start with the obvious. Mature women’s skin changes after the big 5-0. Matte or pancake-y makeup no longer works for a mature woman’s skin. You need a foundation that will give you plenty of coverage, hydrate your skin, make your pores look smaller, and hide your wrinkles. Your old foundation might not do that for you. It’s better to stick to a foundation that’s formulated for mature skin.

Using the wrong concealer
How will you know if your concealer is too cakey? It emphasizes your wrinkles. You need to use concealer that blends well with your skin. It needs to be part of your skin and will hide your flaws.
If you do it the other way around, your makeup will look blotchy and uneven. You want your makeup to look natural so make sure to blend in concealer first to hide wrinkles, fine lines, and dark spots before you apply your foundation.
When you use cakey makeup, it looks like it’s sitting on top of your skin. That really defeats the natural look. Always look for finishing powder that will blend with your makeup seamlessly.
Add color to your cheeks! Stay away from matte blush or bronzer though. Use a blush with a little glitter because we can all use a little sparkle, right?
If you’ve never used a highlighter before, it’s time to use it now. It’ll keep your makeup from looking flat. Plus it’ll give you that youthful look that you want.
Are you still applying a dark liner with lighter lipstick? Stop. This technique makes you look like you’re trying too hard. It’s better to apply lipstick and lip gloss on top to give it shine.
Do you want to show off your arms and legs? Be sure to always moisturize them. No one wants to see dry skin on anyone. Apply that moisturizer every time!
Keep smiling! A happy smile on your face will always keep you looking young and will always brighten up your face. Keep it big, keep it small. Just keep smiling!
Maybe you’re only going to change your foundation or your lipstick. Or maybe you want to do a complete overhaul of your makeup kit. Just decide to make changes. Any change is better than staying stuck in a beauty rut.
